Visitors are invited to enter the first Skomer Marine Nature Reserve photographic competition to capture images of the life and landscape at its best.

There is no doubt that Skomer Marine Nature Reserve is one of Wales’ most photogenic sites. The wonderful scenic coast and seabed provide an abundance of different natural habitats that are teeming with wildlife. And to celebrate 2005 as the Year of the Sea, CCW is running a competition to capture some of this stunning natural beauty on film.
Photographs can be entered in four categories – above or below the waterline within the reserve:

    1. Scenery
    2. Animals
    3. Seaweeds
    4. People and Activities.

There is also a single category junior section for younger visitors of 14 years and under.

Skomer MNR staff will judge the category winners and the MNR Advisory Committee will select an overall winner for 2005.

There will be prizes for all categories.

Entries will be displayed in the MNR Visitor Centre at Martin’s Haven during May 2006. Submissions may be used by the reserve for non-commercial purposes with full credit given to photographers. All original slides will be returned.

    Entries should be sent to:

Skomer Marine Nature Reserve, Fisherman’s Cottage, Martin’s Haven, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire SA 62 3 BQ

The closing date is 31st October 2005.
